Major League Baseball Screws the Philadelphia Sports Fan
Submitted by Bulworth67 on Tue, 10/02/2007 - 2:21pm.Is anyone as outraged as I am that the first two Phillies games are at 3pm on Wednesday and Thursday, and the next two are on Saturday and Sunday at 9:30pm amd 10pm at night? First of all, how many people are going to miss the weekday games because they can't take off work? How many bosses, who have a heart, will be hard pressed to let people take off and miss two afternoons of productivity? I feel for them also. As for the weekend games, how many kids will miss them because they are so late? I probably will fall asleep before the games are over at 1-1:30am.
This is all to squeeze every greedy little penny of advertising dollars out of the series, and to make way for the Yankees at prime time for the NY TV market. In the process, the Phillies fan gets screwed.
Anne Dicker-Objects in the Mirror May Be Closer Than They Appear
Submitted by Bulworth67 on Fri, 08/17/2007 - 9:35am.We haven't heard a lot from Fumo and Company this summer, which I am sure he is happy about. But "OPM" is burned into my brain until Fumo's last day in office. Anne Dicker announced today against Fumo. I suspect the democratic party structure, which I think fears Fumo more than they like him (except those whom he got jobs, or whose jobs depend on him), is secretly wishing he would lose. I know he has a body of work which he is proud of, but these allegations, which have a ring of truth to them, and his reported bullying and childish political tactics have convinced me its time to go. I am curious-will the party step up 100% for him? I think that would be embarassing.
What say you Bob Brady, Ward Leaders etc?
The Historical Commission
Submitted by Bulworth67 on Tue, 06/12/2007 - 9:16am.What do Young Philadelphians think of the performance of the current Historical Commission? It appears to be quite a circus.
And how does one of the top development lawyers become Chairman of it? The fact that the Chairman of the Commission, who is really the leader of preservation in the City, is a top development lawyer, reeks of impropriety. His brother practices in front of the Commission regularly, and the Chairman frequently knows or has represented developers who appear in front of him. The fact that he is arrogant doesn't help. Why is there no outcry from the Preservation community about this?
