Ellen Green-Ceisler's blog

Thank You from Ellen Green-Ceisler

Hello friends!

I am very pleased and proud to have been one of the winners for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas.

It was a difficult race. There were 17 candidates vying for only for 4 openings and I had a terrible ballot position. Despite these significant hurdles I finished in third place! These results indicate that voters actually took the time to find my name on the ballot to cast their vote for me. This is quite unusual in judicial races. I have no doubt that the endorsement from Young Philly Politics helped!

I am deeply honored and sincerely grateful for your encouragement and support. I could not have done this without you. I promise that I will work very hard when I am on the bench and that I will do everything in my power to make a positive difference in people's lives and in our courts.

Thank you all so much.

From Ellen Green-Ceisler - Fighting for equality

Hello again! Last week, I wrote about my long history of fighting to make government more transparent and accountable. This week, I want to write about another one of my core values: equality. If elected, I will work tirelessly to ensure that everyone is treated fairly under the law. I am proud that to share some of my efforts with Young Philly Politics.

Here are some examples:

-After graduating law school, I worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia. I specialized in the prosecution of crimes of domestic violence and provided assistance to the victims of these crimes.

- After leaving the District Attorney’s Office, I became an investigative producer for WCAU-TV NEWS (CBS) in Philadelphia. I produced in-depth investigative series on subjects ranging from the mental health, foster care, and day care systems.

A Record of Reform - From Ellen Green-Ceisler

Hello again, Young Philly Politics! I am Ellen Green-Ceisler and I am running for the Court of Common Pleas.

One of the reasons that I am excited about the upcoming election is because government reform has become a major issue. Organizations like ReformBallot.org and the Committee of Seventy have done a wonderful job educating the public. I have fought for reform long before it became fashionable. Over the years, I’ve worked in various ways to reduce corruption and mismanagement.

Here are a few of the ways:

-I worked as an investigative reporter for WCAU-TV (CBS) in mid-1990s. During that time, I broke numerous stories that exposed municipal mismanagement and waste.

Ellen Green-Ceisler: My first blog post

Greetings, Young Philly Politics! My name is Ellen Green-Ceisler and I am running for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas. I believe our judicial process must be guided by three basic principals: fairness, accountability, and transparency. If elected, I promise to uphold these values in my courtroom.

I have been very impressed with many of the ideas discussed on this website. It's encouraging to see so many people engaged in discussions about how to make our city better. I was particularly interested in reading the post about reforming judicial elections—as a candidate (I also ran in 2005 and lost by just over 1,000 votes, so this is my second time running), I can say that many of the comments were right on target!
