Stand with us! - The Union Employees of the Hyatt Regency Penn's Landing
Submitted by garybroderick on Wed, 10/17/2007 - 3:09am.Dear friends,
On October 29th, 2007 we go back into bargaining with The Hyatt Corporation. We will be bargaining for our second Union contract and fighting to set a standard in the city for what it means to be a hotel worker.
We will demand that standard be a fair wage, full health care coverage for us as individuals and increasingly more coverage for our children and spouses, the ability to retire comfortably in addition to job security, being free from the harassment of unfair disciplinary action, and more control over our workplace.
The fight for a Strong Union Contract
Submitted by garybroderick on Wed, 09/26/2007 - 11:58pm.At the Hyatt Regency at Penn's Landing, we are currently in the middle of a fight for a strong contract. Philadelphia is full of service/hospitality jobs with more on the way, so the implications of this fight will be felt city wide. In the mean time, The Hyatt Corporation is up to the same old B.S, they try to give us unfounded write-ups to make us feel vulnerable, or like they're doing us a favor by not firing us. Below is a petition I prepared and was signed by 49 of my co-workers, I think it illuminates the issues of respect we are fighting for.
RE: My Final Written Warning
So I recently received my Final Written Warning for “Cash Handling Policy Violation.”
They claim they are missing my drop of $489.23 from August 10th. My immediate response to Leslie was, “just check the videotape” but she told me the tape was down for that day and the next.
