Savage Hate

Dan Savage, Editor of Seattle’s “The Stranger” and the sex advice column “Savage Love” made hateful remarks in regards to Carl Romanelli and his candidacy that advocated violence against Romanelli, the Green Party, and its supporters.

Dan Savage told Stephen Morse, a reporter for The Daily Pennsylvanian, “Someone should run Romanelli over with a truck” and “any progressive that votes for a green is a fucking idiot and should be beaten with sticks”.

I hope the folks at Philadelphian's Against Santorum don't advocate this kind of speech. It's very disheartening that Savage ruined their event, but they knew what kind of person they were getting with Savage.

A Ruckus in Harrisburg

John Murphy, Independent congressional candidate was needlessly removed (and possibly arrested), from the room where Romanelli's signature's are being checked, while volunteering to help Romanelli and the greens check signatures. The Democrats tactics showed desperation as they called for Murphy to be arrested for saying a four letter word in frustration over the democrats nitpicking over technicalities in the signatures. The Democrats are trying to impose fascist rule in the room and it's getting quite ridiculous. It's nice to hear independent voices getting frustrated over the process and the Democrats Machiavellian tactics. Democrats seem to be the only ones to see serious flaws in most of the signatures.

Tough Day in Harrisburg-Volunteers Needed

So today was a rough day in Harrisburg. If you haven't been following the story about the democrats trying to get the Green Party and Romanelli off the ballot for Senate let me bring you up to speed.

When the Dems challenged Romanelli's signatures, the judge insisted that all the challenged signatures must be checked by both a Democrat supporter and a Romanelli supporter. Dems and Greens have to each provide 9 volunteers to check signatures.

Today some of the Greens' volunteers suffered hardships and could not fulfill their volunteer duties. Sadly, I've been told, even one member had a death in the family (our thoughts and prayers are with you). The Democrats cruely filed an injunction to hold us in contempt and fine us. The judge did not oblige the dems but said we have to have 9 volunteers tomorrow

Everything You Want To Know About Carl Romanelli

We are inviting bloggers to ask anything they want to know about Carl (5-10 questions). Obviously the campaign has kicked off in an unusual way, but we're not ones to look a gift horse in the mouth. People are naturally skeptical and that is the way it should be. But we think you will find satisfactory answers, even if not ones you agree with.

Send your questions to joe@fletchpr.com or post them in the comments section. If the questions are well thought out and intelligent we'll set you up with an e-mail or telephone interview with Carl depending on what time permits.

Thanks,

Joe

It's nice when someone sticks up for you

Thanks to the Philadelphia Green Party for their support.

GREENS PREPARE TO DEFEND SIGNATURES

Green candidates for statewide office are preparing to defend signatures against a court challenge filed by Democrats late yesterday. Greens submitted approximately 100,000 signatures last Tuesday to get Carl Romanelli, Marakay Rogers and Christina Valente on the November ballot for U.S. Senate, Governor and Lt. Governor, respectively. The number of signatures submitted was historic, breaking all prior records for nomination papers.

Rogers said, “Nothing could be more clear than that the will of the citizens of Pennsylvania is for Green candidates to appear on the ballot. Yet Democrats will use technicalities and this year’s freakishly high signature requirement to dodge a discussion of issues that are important to voters.”

Bob Casey’s Challenge to Signature Petitions Threatens to Disenfranchise Pennsylvania Voters

Check out the Romanelli Response to Bob Casey's filing a challenge to our right to be on the ballot. Sound's like he is hunting for hanging chads. He really is a Republican!

Romanelli Stands Firm In PA Senatorial Race

Bob Casey’s Challenge to Signature Petitions threatens to disenfranchise Pennsylvania Voters

Wilkes-Barre, PA, August 8, 2006—The Romanelli campaign for Senate took great care in collecting signatures with the proper notarization and using best practices to their knowledge.

Carl Romanelli says, “We are confident that the Bob Casey challenges to our signature petitions will not be successful. With the line challenges, the Casey campaign hopes to eliminate signatures on the basis of the equivalent of “hanging chads” in the signatures. They hope to find technical errors, which could disenfranchise tens-of-thousands of Pennsylvania voters. In some cases signatures could be eliminated for reasons such as because the signers had moved since they signed the petition, because the signer did not include the date, did to put in their middle initial or another trivial reason.”

I prepared this press release today and thought I would share. It's pretty juicy as far as press release go!

Romanelli Condemns Bob Casey’s Efforts To Silence Liberals In PA Senatorial Race

For Immediate Release

Wilkes-Barre, PA, August 7, 2006— U.S. Senatorial Candidate Carl Romanelli condemns the oppressive efforts of Bob Casey to remove Romanelli from the ballot and squash the liberal resistance to the Casey campaign. Romanelli also denounces the vitriolic comments by Pennsylvania Democratic Committee Chairman T.J. Rooney.

“Bob Casey knows his campaign for Senator is weakening and is in danger of falling apart. He has ignored the liberal wing of the Democratic party and is now using his money and influence to keep the most important issues off the Ballot; such as ending the war in Iraq and maintaining a woman’s right to choose. He wants to disenfranchise the liberal voters by taking me off the ballot. Casey knows our run for Senate threatens his fragile network,” said Romanelli. “T.J. Rooney has been irresponsible in his name calling, he’s a schoolyard bully and nothing more. His comments lately are ludicrous and unfounded.”
