Am I Less Black If I Don't Vote For Obama???????

That's been the question that has rattled my mind for about a year now . I thought that people had the right to have the freedom of opinion . Especially without having someone look at you funny or think your stupid for how you feel. But I guess thats not the case when I stated that Obama wasn't ready for the White House or this country isn't ready for a African American President .

Eating STRANGE FRUIT With Jena

As I watched the Congressional Hearing over the controversial Jena 6 case last night on C-SPAN a few things didn't sit well with me. Being an African American male watching this kind of treatment being implemented towards black teens wasn't my major beef. Having family from southern states made me aware of how some of these racist states (S. Carolina , Florida, Georgia, etc.)operate ,so this isn't nothing new. What had me fuming is that how our so-called United States Government dropped the ball in protecting these 6 black teens from this kind of behavior and nipping this whole racism thing in the bud. And how we elect and have these people in office to do their job not only don't care about the welfare of the constituents, but just coming to work to collect a check just like the rest!

Happy Birthday Smoking Ban 101!!!!!

Has it been a year already? If it is HAPPY BIRTHDAY SMOKING BAN!!!!!!

Time flies when your not smoking in public places anymore. I doesn't even seem like a year now since City Council ,headed by then Councilman Mike Nutter at the time, passed the bill that people thought would kill every establishment in the area. God forbid we can't smoke at our tavern anymore? Off with Nutter's head! People were saying that last year, just before he announced that he was running for Mayor. I thought this would be his down fall , first your taking our cigarettes , then you wanted to stop and frisk? But it seems that the ban and Nutter survived with flying colors. Who would have thought that the calm would be so nice after the smoke storm.

Are You One Of The 10,000???????

As I stood and watched the press conference for the up coming A Call To Action : 10,000 men event, I was a little proud to see all the elected officials who attended the event. Some wanted to make the news, some really wanted to make a difference. But as I stood by a proud Charlie Mack standing high near Kenny Gamble, a yell "It's A New Day" filled the room. Even though the crowd wasn't that big , the message was echoed from the Liacouras Center down Broad Street, its time for A New Day. But how long will this last and will 10,000 men be enough to save our streets from the crime and violence that have made Phila home?

Is There Any Justice For Mustafa Ali ????

Okay before we send the party out for this man, before we convict him for crimes that he might have confessed, will this black man receive his due process in Philadelphia? He's public enemy number 1 right now for the assassination of two armored car guards , that happen to be retired police officers.

The FRAUD that is Phila Politics, the calm after the storm

I've asked this question time and time again. It seems that no one can tell me what happen to the candidates after this Mayoral election? It seems that there's a lot of hurt feelings running around in this city. Just cause you didn't win the primary, doesn't mean you can stop the fight. I know that everyone wanted this to be over ,for us to not bring it up again, but I had to know. Its like if your not the town favorite, you just fall off the map. I haven't heard from anyone since the primary, and shouldn't that be a problem?

Black Commissioner Can't Relate To Streets

Its been a question that been plaguing my mind for years. I just don't understand why we as citizens can't reach out and work with our law enforcement. With all the killings happening in neighborhoods that are predominately black , why can't we reach out to the neighborhoods? Why do we live in fear from the crooks and police? We have a Black Commissioner that's at war with his White officers in Black neighborhoods. This doesn't make sense to me and no one has brought this to his attention. Or maybe he knows about this and doesn't know what to do.

Thank You Paris & David

Hello once again my fellow readers. This is just me thinking out loud of somethings that have puzzled my mind. In recent events it seems that we as Americans (DEMOCRAT & REPUBLICANS) have a certain fixation with the celebrities in Hollywood. The limelight and stardom have blinded us so bad that we can't figure out what the real issues are in this country. Everyone wants to be a star, or live like that celebrity that you see on TV. But this has become ridiculous how far we have become, being worried about whats going on Access Hollywood and not paying CNN no attention.

The Last Days Of The STREET

I was thinking that its only a matter of time before our beloved Mayor leaves City Hall for good. For some that time can't come any faster. We already know who's the next Mayor of Philly going to be, no surprise at all. So I was thinking of things that our nice Mayor in office can do in his last month in term.

Week 1) Debrief our new mayor of all the Bull---t that you left for him .
For some newly elected mayors this will take about at least 5 months for all this information to sink in . Then you can look back and think "why did I take this job in the first place?" Have a parade , the only parade down Broad St. to apologize for wasting 8 years of our lives as Mayor. For the last three days of that week , take a long nap under Mayor Rizzo statue so he could know how it feels to sleep just like the rest that call the alleys around City Hall home.

Week 2) Donate your last month in office earnings to a local charity.

How Sick-O are we really?????

Hello its a pleasure to back on here again. Its been a while so I've had the time to check out some things. All thats going on in this city and the world (HOW CAN A MAN BE SHOT BY OUR POLICE 85 TIMES-21 EXIT WOUNDS?)and some things don't change. But my latest beef if you can call it that is this Mike Moore movie. This movie SICKO made my look at life in a different way . It made me ask this simple question, HOW BEDROCK HAVE WE BECOME AS A SOCIETY IN THIS COUNTRY?

Have you been to Philly Lately , Pt. 3

This is Ray Nagin's Minority Report! He promised in his first 100 days of reelection that he would have a plan for New Orleans, but still had to come to Philly for ideas. He's 100 days are almost up and this is how it still looks. Have you seen New Orleans lately??????????

Have you been to Philly Lately , Pt. 2

Now how could our city let Mayor Nagin get away with these comments? How come we didn't catch offense to these remarks. When I first heard Mayor Nagin say those words, I couldn't believe that he was sober when he make those comments. Can someone like him give criticism to our fair city, especially where he's coming from. Its been reported that almost $400 million dollars was offered to help with Katrina along with boats and shelter. Do you know what Philly could do with a check for $ 400 million just for renovations? How do you feel about these comments, do you think the Mayor had merit to make those comments that day???

Have you been to Philly Lately , Pt. 1

I was just thinking about the recent trip New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin made to our city weeks ago and the comments he made when he went back home. It didn't sit well with me, it shouldn't have sat well with our current Mayor John Street. But if Ray Nagin can disrespect our city, who else can take a spin ? Before you start talking about our city , take a look in the mirror and you might think about what you just said was the stupidest thing a Mayor could say. Especially after all the horrific drama New Orleans is still trying to recover. Makes you thank heavens that Philly isn't that bad as you really think....

The NutterButters Finally Paid Off/ Phila Future

I want to send congrats to all the winners and all the losers in yesterday's race. It was long and hard fight, but we had Philadelphia's future at hand when we went to the polls. I hope that we continue the fight to make a better Philadelphia. I hate to see people run for different offices and then fall out of the radar. There is so much that we can do, only together we can accomplish real achievements in this city. If you think one man at 215 can do the job, your sadly mistaken . The future begins today but I want to go back to the past for a second. To reflect on a wonderful job that Mike Nutter did to get this far. This man is the real champ in Philadelphia. A story that we will not forget. The real Rocky story, he didn't have enough money to beat Knox ,not enough sex appeal as Brady, or a smile like Fattah , but he prevailed over the rest. A true testament that the Nutter Butters truly paid off....

The New Danger

For about 2007 years all that we have learned how to do in this world is hate, create, destroy and conquer. I don't know if this is good or bad, but things have been going on like this and I don't see it stopping no time soon.

It seems in all this time that we haven't learned anything good yet. And from these events that have been going on in the last 8 years , things couldn't get worse. So I came up with this observation of what I call the New Danger. We have been facing dangers as long as we have been on this earth. Dangers that we could avoid ,and then some that are unimaginable. But this is a New Danger, a danger that we haven't seen before. A great Danger that could kill us all in one swoop. Its not Bush, our government, our city, guns , drugs, crime, none of that stuff.

THE REAL DANGER IS OURSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
