thoughts on queer rights activism
Submitted by orangestripes on Tue, 08/28/2007 - 5:09pm.While I am certainly against Don't Ask Don't Tell and laws banning same-sex marriage, I am often frustrated by the apparent focus of national LGBT rights organizations and the media on marriage and the military as today's key struggles for the LGBT community. These seem quite conservative, emphasizing how queer individuals and families are "just like everyone else" instead of arguing for the rights of everyone to be themselves.
