IN THE BATTLE GROUND STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA, BLACK MEN IN THE CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE COME TOGETHER TO RALLY BEHIND
BARACK OBAMA
IN THE BACK DROP OF RACE, POLITICS and GENDER 3000 black men will stand together with men of all races in support of Barack Obama in a massive effort to mobilize and energize the black male voter bloc
PHILADELPHIA, PA—On Saturday April 12, 2008 6PM-9PM standing in solidarity behind the pulpit of the historical Tindley Temple UMC Church (Broad and Fitzwater St.) a collective of ideologically diverse black men will articulate their support of Barack Obama and the change movement. According to Brothers For Barack co-founder Kenyatta Johnson, “I decided to become the change I wanted to see in my community and I support, embrace, and endorse the message and movement of Senator Barack Obama. At this important time when democrats have to make a choice between two qualified candidates for president, I thought it was important to publicly take a position and chose the candidate I thought was best suited to represent the nation and my South Philadelphia community.”
While the bulk of the black Pennsylvania voters are trending toward Senator Barack Obama the talking heads and political pundits are suggesting the x-factor in determining the outcome in the Pennsylvania democratic primary. The Brothers For Barack is mobilizing black men who have traditionally been resistant to voting and registering to vote to show their voting power at the voting polls. “Senator Obama has been an inspirational figure and is showing black men that no longer can we use race as an excuse. Although barriers have existed, black men can still succeed and prosper in the United States when they work hard, get a quality education, and steer clear of the crime. I believe that the black men in cities like Philadelphia, Chester, Norristown, Pottstown, Upper Darby, Reading and Pittsburgh will show up at the polls”
The event looks to host a diverse collect of men from all backgrounds including celebrities, politicians, dignitaries, professional athletes and Philadelphia’s finest neo-soul musicians. www.brothersforbarack.com
