What happens if Curtis Jones is indicted before he assumes office in January? Can he keep his council seat if he's indicted for something unrelated to his council duties? Does he have to resign? Or only if convicted?

From the facts that have been alleged here, it is quite possible that we are talking about a civil rather than a criminal matter, which would result in a fine being paid rather than a criminal conviction if the factual allegations prove true.
