Debate 08: Is Sarah Palin Insane?
She's hanging out in Philadelphia for the Debate. Are you kidding?
If tonight's presidential debate takes place, an Irish bar in Center City will be in the limelight, hosting Gov. Sarah Palin at a pre-debate party.
The Irish Pub, 2007 Walnut St., will open its doors at 5 p.m. to receive ticketed guests for the private function.
Paul Lindsay, the McCain campaign's spokesman, declined to release any details about tonight's event, or why the Irish Pub had been picked to host the Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential nominee. All Lindsay would say was that Palin, who landed in Philadelphia yesterday, was here to do some preparation for her own debate against Democratic vice presidential nominee Joseph R. Biden Jr.
As we know, when McCain showed up at Reading Terminal, he could hardly do interviews as a spontaneous protest tried to drown him out chanting "Obama! Obama!"
Here's hoping Governor P has as much fun here, tonight. Cheers, Sarah!
Welcome to Philadelphia!

Ooops
From what I read, Palin was supposed to be in Scranton tonight, but her transportation schedule got shut down when McCain "suspended" his campaign while he went back to D.C. to help solve a crisis pertaining to a matter he's on the record for not having a strong grasp of _and_ believed was "fundamentally sound." That suspension led to some shuffling around, and in short, I think she's stuck in Philly because the campaign seriously forgot about her while trying to keep "the maverick wild card" from personally taking hold of the economy and setting it on a course straight into the sun.
I'm wondering if they're hoping for "national play" of Palin at the Irish Pub. You know, tell the invitees to show up in sweatshirts, flannels, and jeans. Assume the average national media watcher doesn't know what "center city" is. Couple that with some Irish-American stereotypes and you got some great photo ops of Palin being a woman of the people with the salt of the earth at
The"an" IrishPubpub. Hopefully it works out as helter skelter as the rest of the campaign's week.Irish Bar?
It's a Irish Bar - so she's polishing her foreign policy credentials.
That place is hardly an
That place is hardly an Irish bar. It's name is The Irish Pub, and they do serve some Irish beverages but that's about it. This bar is a sports bar / meat market. Nobody goes there except to yell at the televisions or try to hook up. Oh, sounds perfect.
Yes, we know that....
...but her accidental presence in Philly isn't really a move to win Philly. It's entirely a manufactured event. The bar's closed to the public, invite only. This isn't new to us, it's exactly what Bush and Co. has been doing for "public events" for the past 8 years. It'll be all about the images produced, which won't be much. Still something to make noise at.
yes, making noise
A bunch of our organizers went over their 20 minutes ago to make some noise. Ha, ha, ha! I hope others joined them!

This Too Will Pass, for the guts in your cerebrum.
Palin's 'preparation'
Bear in mind that, when the McCain campaign refers to Palin 'preparing' for the debate w/Biden, they really mean fitting her w/a radio transmitter less obvious than the hump on GWB's back during one of his debates w/Kerry.
Shenanigans!

Palin at the Irish Pub
Now who would you rather have a beer with?
Let's be clear on this...
Palin isn't insane; she's stupid. Please don't insult the insane.
