Fumo and Gun Violence, Point / Counterpoint

So you have all by now seen the strangely creepy political ad where State Senator Vince Fumo appears to have broken into some family's home while making highly debateable assertions about his record on gun violence in Harrisburg.

Basically he touts his record against gun violence, intersperses an out of context quote from Rendell with a shot implying an endorsement from both Rendell and Nutter when he has received neither, and then somewhat menacingly serves pasta to a startled and downright worried looking family in their kitchen.

Well there is already a response video - but not from any of the other candidates in the race. From the Brady Campaign (no not our illustrious Congressman, the folks behind the similarly named gun control advocacy group).

Its an interesting re-election campaign when the incumbent is not only facing a large number of Federal indictments and a surprisingly long list of electoral challengers, but that folks completely unrelated to any of your challengers are taking time out to criticize your campaign commercials.

Do folks think Vince Fumo is wise to campaign right out of the box on his record on combating gun violence? And just why is he breaking into strange people's houses to make these possibly spurious claims anyway?
