Jack Morley, First District Republican Candidate
I just wanted to chime in about a candidate that some may want to consider in the general election regardless of who comes out of the Democratic primary today in the first district state senatorial race. Jack Morley.
Many of us rarely consider the Republican candidates and I feel that the post Fumo field that the Democrats have put forth is quite bleak. Morley has proposed some real solutions to tough problems like crime, not just one-liners, and is more moderate on many social topics than many traditional Republicans (he's pro-choice).
At many of the candidates nights he hasn't been allowed to partake in the debates as he is running unopposed (only the Dems have debated) but he is always in attendance; and having spoken to him I look forward to hearing him dialouge formally with the other candidate come general election time.
Happy voting today!

Jack Morley
I met him outside of the Italian Bistro this winter when the rest of the candidates were inside at a similar function. I encouraged him to use media such as YPP and PhillyBlog as well as a thoughtful website to reach prospective voters. Depending on who wins today, I may be doing some comparison shopping this fall!!!

Be careful what you wish for
Not Jack himself but his campaign manager is very fond of notably belicose posts over on Phillyblog not disimilar in tone to some of the ones Guy Lewis's supporters post here (and there). Morley's hoping a lot folks unhappy with Dougherty will boost his numbers enough to look like a Republican wunderkind in Nov. I also think the likely Doc blowout will make any idea of a third party option untenable so he may get some embittered anti-Doc votes after all.
BTW - although Morley did not participate in the NN event, he did participate in many of the neighborhood candidate forums which are be definition more broadly non-partisan than NN.
Its amazing how completely and utterly both other candidates dropped the ball and missed out on pitching their case effectively to the historically small but in this election dynamic African American vote in the First while Doc pulled out all the stops there. As I stare at the "Vote Barack, Vote Doc" flyer I got on my car, I expect a big, big win for Doc amongst all those "undecideds" to be announced shortly.
