Mayor Street: good gay legacy, what about the rest?
Mayor Street if officiating at a commitment ceremony this weekend for Micah Mahjoubian and Ryan Bunch (both past members of the Liberty City board). Awesome.
Check out the article in the Inky here.
It’s amazing how far Mayor Street has come on LGBT issues.
That said, there’s another opportunity for the Mayor to amaze us which is actually respond to the Philly for Change letter to Street (click here to see it and all the people who signed in PDF form) and come to the December meet-Up and announce what legacy issues he plans to work on.
PFC members have asked the mayor to address homeless, city health centers and tree plantings. Learn more at www.phillyforchange.com
Meanwhile, congrats to Micah and Ryan!

Great news, but Street not first
I just sent a letter to the Inky commending Street, but pointing out that the Green Party mayor of New Paltz, NY solemnized 25 marriages in his village in February 2004. It's disappointing that Steven Goldstein was "unaware" of this news.

well, he is not the second or third either...
Street is not marrying Micah and Ryan as Gavin Newsome did in SF and the dude in New Paltz. They issues real marriage license in defiance of their state legislatures. This is just officiation.
But your point is well taken.
Micah and Ryan
Congats and best of luck to the happy (and handsome) couple.
