Nominate a Philly activist!

People joked that you could have set Philadelphia's progressive community back 30 years if you had targeted Hamilton Hall the night of Bread & Roses' Tribute to Change 30th anniversary gala.

It's true; last year's Tribute to Change was a huge success. Almost 500 people-- from all over the region -- came together to celebrate 30 years of Bread & Roses by honoring the work and lives of 30 local activists who have created and inspired work for social justice in the Delaware Valley.

But we don't just celebrate successes on milestone anniversaries -- Bread & Roses celebrates victories for real change every year. Our annual Tribute to Change awards ceremony provides the opportunity for us to highlight the diversity of the issues, strategies and people involved in local movements for social justice.

This year we'll give our Tribute to Change awards to just a few individuals or organizations, not 30. We need your help deciding who deserves to be honored most.

Can you take a few minutes to nominate an individual or organization whose work you think should be recognized by Delaware Valley's progressive community in 2008? Nominations are due by March 7, 2008. Go to www.breadrosesfund.org/go/nomination to submit your nominations.

The Tribute to Change is the annual awards ceremony for local progressives who support social justice. The Tribute to Change is our community's opportunity to honor the accomplishments of organizers and activists in our area whose work inspires and creates real change. That's why we invite nominations from the community-at-large of deserving activists and organizations who make a real difference in our community.

Potential honorees can be of all ages, all disciplines and working in the Philadelphia region on any issue related to social justice. If the work of an individual is so closely intertwined with another person, or with several people, that it is hard to single her/him out, feel free to nominate two or more as a group. Your answers to the questions don't need to be long but should make it clear why you think this person is worthy of special recognition.

To start nominating honorees, please go to www.breadrosesfund.org/go/nomination.
