Seeking Banned Book-themed Book Art
Submission Deadline: Tuesay, September 2, 2008

The Philadelphia Center for the Book and the Rosenbach invite you to submit artist's books for an exhibition in conjunction with Banned Books Week. Books on themes related to banned books, censorship, and control will be considered for the juried exhibition. Selected books will be exhibited at the Rosenbach from September 22 to October 5, 2008. Artists will receive an honorarium of $100 for each book selected for the exhibition!

An opening reception will take place on Friday, October 3, 5:00-7:30pm. The evening event will feature public readings from banned books in the Rosenbach's collection and a complementary exhibition of selected banned books culled from the collection. Please email elysa@elysavoshell.com if you are interested in signing up as a reader.

After the Rosenbach, the exhibition will be on view in the second-floor cases outside of the Print & Picture Collection at the Free Library of Philadelphia from October 14 to December 5, 2008. Due to the size restraints of the cases at both venues, especially large books should not be submitted. Items that cannot be brought into the museum and library including living plant materials, food, and liquid, should not be used. All entrants must be (or become!) Philadelphia Center for the Book members.
