TAKING THE GLOVES OFF

As an Independent candidate on the ballot for the November general election, it is time to take the race against Donna Reed Miller and the Miller Machine to the level which it should have visited during the primary. Softball platforms and avoidance of controvery will not get the job done, as the results of that primary has proven. It was no secrect that Miller has not ever generated a majority of votes in her disrict, yet the reasons for that lack of broad-based respect for this councilperson were never really discussed in the primary.

That will not be the case with this campaign, that for all practical purposes begins this week. The corruption, insider dealing, unresponsive policies of this 13-year adminstration will be front and center. Some of the readers may be familiar with my nearly 10 year history of writing frequent editorials and critiques of Philadelphia politics and particulary 8th District practices; let me assure you that some of those subjects will be revisited and new material will accompany it.

I will confine the subject matter to Philadelhia and local issues, the more specific to this district the better. Michael Nutter is a giant step in the right direction, but with folks like Miller on Council, he will be fighting the same old Tammany Hall type insider dealing.

One candidate would have a

One candidate would have a chance to defeat Donna Miller...

Jim:

While I wish you the best of luck, as I understand it, there are several candidates in the race. What are the prospects for getting all the challengers together and uniting around one individual?

Could you tell us why you should be that individual?
But to be honest, I'd be more interested in someone that can pull all the challengers aside, knock some heads behind closed doors, and get everyone behind one candidate.

8th District Race

Mike and others,

There is still time for the public and the candidates to react to some strong issue and past practices discussion; something we saw little of the in the primay that was played by the Marquis of Queensbury rules.

My candidacy does not recognize those rules and you can be sure that the Miller Machine never did.
