Hello once again my fellow readers. This is just me thinking out loud of somethings that have puzzled my mind. In recent events it seems that we as Americans (DEMOCRAT & REPUBLICANS) have a certain fixation with the celebrities in Hollywood. The limelight and stardom have blinded us so bad that we can't figure out what the real issues are in this country. Everyone wants to be a star, or live like that celebrity that you see on TV. But this has become ridiculous how far we have become, being worried about whats going on Access Hollywood and not paying CNN no attention.
Chris Rock said it best when he describes how all thats going on in Hollyhood is just a ploy to get our minds off this war. Every time something bad happens in the world , we find some way to sway away to find out whats Tom Cruise's baby new name is or what party Paris Hilton is going to tonight. This has programmed us into thinking that this is the real issues that plague or world. We can find all the faults that celebrities do with the help of paparazzi but still can't find Osama. We can follow Lindsay Lohan and watch Britney Spears get a haircut , but still no Osama? How can TMZ.com and the Hollywood reporter have more intelligence than our CIA , FBI ,Pentagon combined?
Why as a society are we so fixed on the latest moves of David Beckham but not our President. Worried about the latest run-ins with Beanie Segal and not our Mayor. When Iverson was in town, he covered the front and back of the Daily News. But still our homicide number always get a small block of page in the news. Are we that far gone from reality that we don't care if our city goes to hell or not??
As long as we have Extra, Access Hollywood, E news, Headline News, The Star , The Globe, TMZ.com, and other junk like that , we will never know what really going on in the world. Maybe we don't care and want to see ourselves in the image of others. Maybe people care about Lindsay and Nicole Richie so much cause they wish they had the chance they had. Everyone wants to offer advice on how to help these women but no one has a good exit strategy out of Iraq. Kids are dying everyday in Iraq but still the major news story is that David Beckam is coming to America. The rich and famous will always catch our eyes more than our unemployment rate or crime .
So I think that as our President is in the final days of his tenure of office, he should recognize some people that made his job a little easy. When celebrities mess up in Hollywood , its a good day in Washington. When the madame scandal hit the news in D.C., no coverage at all. Now we have all access coverage of Paris going to jail, leaving jail, going to the hospital, going back to jail, then finally release to party some more. So I think Pres. Bush should give medals to these following people for all the hard work they put in to keep us occupied while this country was doing their dirty work on the side.
1)David Hasselhoff
2)Kobe Bryant
3)O.J. Simpson
4)David Beckham
5)Paris Hilton
6)Lindsay Lohan
7)Tom Cruise
8)Britney Spears & Kevin Federline
9)Anna Nicole Smith
10)Brad Pitt
To these people your country , your local officials and your President thanks you for taking all the heat that should have been directed at them. You have performed a public service that we will never forget!
