Okay before we send the party out for this man, before we convict him for crimes that he might have confessed, will this black man receive his due process in Philadelphia? He's public enemy number 1 right now for the assassination of two armored car guards , that happen to be retired police officers.
I find it strange that how we can't find any of these killers running the streets, but we only took one day to find the suspect of this armored car bank heist. It usually take our police department months just to find clues ,but they sped up the process to find the killer of these decorated officers just doing their job. I send my condolences to their family and I hope that they will give this black man a fair trial. All people, cop killers or not deserve a fair chance in trial. How the police got a confession out of this man within 24 hours is almost like watching the First 24HRS show on television. Its amazing how when one of their own is slain , things move a lot quicker, people are apprehended, judges are wakened from their sleep to their chambers, some suspects are assaulted, case close.
Should this man, even though he took the life of two retired officers, receive a chance to defend himself? Will this city give this Muslim man a chance to represent himself in front of a jury of his peers? Some cases receive a blind eye when it comes to justice, no way am I saying this man should be freed on any accounts. All I ask is that we have enough evidence to convict, give this man a fair trial, convict , then case close. That's all! There is a lot of emotions running wild on the television, officers mad, families grieving , a Commissioner looking for revenge to make up for the job he didn't do for his city. Lets not make this conviction the most major in this city , cause we have a lot more people we need to get off the streets. The job doesn't stop with Ali, families are loosing children to these streets, whether is Northeast or West. We have to treat all cases the same, convict, case close.

An ignorant reaction
Do you even know how they caught this man? Try reading the facts before playing the race and religion card ignorantly.

He made no attempt to conceal his identity when he committed the crime. We know what he looks like from the security camera. We know what car he drove from eyewitness accounts.
He already has a warrant out his arrest due to the fact the check he used to put the down payment on the car had bounced. The car salesman saw him on the news and tipped the police. His neighbor saw him on the news and tipped the police. When you know where a suspect lives, and said suspect takes one day too long to flee, it is easy to catch him.
The common thread here is that information on the suspect was broadcast by the media, and good citizens helped the police. Without these tips, he probably would have been able to flee with his family.
Is it fair that in a city with so many murders, this particular case was publicized enough to get these tips? Most of our city thinks that murdering police and stealing large sums of bank money is a bigger deal than gang and grudge violence. IT IS. I don't want to discount the deaths in Southwest, West, and North Philly, because these murderers need to be caught as well. However, in the neighborhoods where most of these other murders happen, neighbors know who did the killing in many cases. But the lack of police cooperation (so-called "no snitch" culture) in these communities makes getting crucial tip-offs difficult. The police are a responsible for a lot of the tension in these neighborhoods. But knee-jerk reactions by certain people when they hear a Muslim name does not help the situation.
Do we know he's guily? The confession implies this, but, yes, he deserves a fair trial. Rational people, however, will applaud the police when they do something right.

Remember our system of law
Innocent until proven guilty is perhaps the single most fundamental principal of US jurisprudence. Indeed, perhaps the single worst thing that the media does today is often seem to invert this in some cases, especially sensational ones which can increase ratings. For particularly egregious examples, look @ the Duke 'rape' case, where the presumption of guilt was so certain that four young mens' lives were quite possibly ruined due to an overzealous prosecutor and press.
Mr. Ali was arrested for this robbery. That much appears to be established. He is alleged to have confessed. The operative term there is 'alleged.' Let's allow the system to work before jumping to any conclusions re: racism or rush to justice.

And thats all I'm asking for .That we arrest the right person for this crime. It was said on the news that he had outstanding warrants in other counties. Now he's confessed to a crime , we haven't been informed that his car was the car used ,or the results of the search warrant for his home. Lets cross the T's and dot the I's before we say he have the killer. That's all I'm saying (ex. Duke U.)
I just feel that some on the police dept need this case to feel better about all that's going on in this city. This caper doesn't make anything better or pull us away from the rest of the crime in the city, or make us feel any safer on these streets. The best thing that Commish Johnson said during the press conference was that it didn't' matter what part of the city this crime too place, there is a bigger issue that we need to tackle. We need to get these guns off the streets!!!!

You misspelled "monkeys."
You misspelled "monkeys." Evidently your "college education" didn't do you much good. Even your racism is lazy.

We have a pretty strict policy here about racism, sexism, homphobia, etc. here. I am willing to give Kino the benefit of the doubt, that s/he had some nuanced perspective on race, but reading his/her two comments with the frequent use of the word "nigger" did not help me understand what that would be. So these comments have been deleted. Kino can send an email to me and Dan at info AT youngphillypolitics.com and try to clarify his/her behavior. However racist posts are grounds for a ban. -Ray
So glad you clarified
I didn't realize that you are "progressive."
From your earlier post I got the impression that you are a bigoted nutjob. My bad.
