What's our candidates' plan for attracting and keeping tech businesses in Philly?
Submitted by KenHouston on Thu, 03/29/2007 - 7:07pm.
Find out every Saturday between now and May during the "Technically Speaking Radio" program.
Our candidates SAY they want the city to grow...
Our candidates SAY they want to ensure that education includes technology...
but what do they really know about technology?
JC Lamkin will ask the tough tech questions of our candidates....she makes certain that our candidates are y2k compliant...

Will she really ask tough questions?
Will she really ask tough questions? So far, at so many candidate forums, the candidates have not been challenged and have instead been asked soft ball questions with NO follow-up.

Or they don't answer the questions at all. *cough*Evans*cough*

Well, she interviewed Nutter last week and will interview Knox and Reed-Miller this week.
So, far she has been pretty tough, but ya know....it's a 2-way talk radio program so you can always call in and ask the question that you feel may be more hard hitting.

Growing in a Tech World
This city is only going to allow what they think is appropriate. I was looking forward to the Disney plans they had years ago thats not a parking complex. Every time we have ideas, someone wants to shut it down with no hesitation. We should be able as a city to move forward like every other city. There is so much we can improve on, better automobiles (solar cars), better recycling ,etc. Every home should have Internet access and more cyber cafes. Its going to take some time for us to catch up with other cities that are making strides to the next century.

Agreed....
There is a LOT more we can do to make this city as great as it can be. I'm not certain why our leaders tend to shut down the ideas such as you just stated. But, in my experience it's because they simply have no experience with or understanding of solar cards, better recycling, etc....<--so, those ideas scare them and they do not know how to move those ideas forward...all they know is politics.
but, this Saturday, we will have Congressman Fattah as a guest on the Technically Speaking program. May I suggest that you call in to ask him that question?

Thanks Ken
I might just do that , I have some ideas I would love to pass down to him. For the technically challenged I have plenty of people he can talk to for more information.

Don't Be afraid Of What YOU Don't Understand
Its either your a part of the Technical Age or be left behind. Its time to move away from the primitive thinking and go beyond . We have new technology everywhere, we just stop using XP for Vista. I thought the XP would lead us to the future but just like technology its always changing. We have no choice but to change our way of thinking. We already have cameras posted on street lights for protection, who knows how far we can go if we open our minds and think more than politics.
Did you know soda machines take credit cards now???
