Why is The Million Woman March Being Ignored?
Submitted by KenHouston on Sun, 08/19/2007 - 11:58am.
It's the 10 year anniversary of the Million Women March and nobody in the City seems to care.
The Million Woman March is working to stop the violence that is happening in Philadelphia and no one seems to care.
This article tells all about the apathy among city officials
What do we have to do to help politicians understand that we mean business and they need to stand-up and take note of this??

Specific Requests, Fundraisers Would Be Helpful
Neither Ken Houston's blog above or the associatedcontent.com website contains much information about the specific help that is desired or the specific group of people desired to be mobilized. Nor is there any information about any fundraisers scheduled.
Setting specific goals and requests is a helpful way to mobilize people. And deciding whether it is an event of the black community desirous of black participation or an event of the entire community desirous of participation of the entire community certainly is important to white, Asian, and Latino people who might interested in participating.
I presume from Ken Houston's post that the participation of men is welcome. It would help mobilize more men to help if that was explicitly stated and potential roles for men are set forth.
I think it is great the Million Women March chose to come to Philadelphia in 1997, and is coming back in 2007. Community mobilization cannot solve the persistent crime problems all by itself, but it is a constructive step for the future.
Follow-up contact info is included in the article.
Hi RepMarkBCohen,
The information you are requesting is on the last page of the article. It says:
"To obtain an official MWM 2007-8 Coordinators Application Form or for more information contact mwmsistahood@aol.com; Or, National Million Woman March, PO Box 53668, Philadelphia, PA 19105. Check the Million Woman March website to stay abreast of this event."
I get the impression that they want everyone to help out, but the first step is to contact the organization.
